a time for ladies

i was remembering the other day about the 90s and how you could be somebody like kim deal and wear ugly clothes and be a badass.

most of my time is spent with ladies who are graduate students. these are some wonderful ladies. some of them are beautiful and some of them are homely and mousy and some of them wear glasses and they're all whip smart.

tonight i made pita pizzas and caramel popcorn for a couple of my ladies.

goodnight, ladies.

  1. perhaps 2010 will usher in a new era of Badass Ladies Who Wear Ugly Clothes--isn't it a 20 year cycle of empowerment/backlash?

and can you post a good caramel popcorn recipe?

  2. If I hadn't already committed to being a dorky computer girl, becoming a mousy grad student with glasses would be my life goal. Perhaps I don't have to choose!

  4. i like the part in lotr when it talks about how only the dwarves can tell which ones are male and which are female. i would kinda like to be part of something like that. some society where i could, like, wear clark's wallabees and still get hetero action.

    wait, is that seattle?

  6. p.s. my new discovery is that coconut oil is very good for popping corn. not quite as good as peanut oil.
